Dried apple slices!
Have you ever used you oven to dehydrate food? There are much more technical ways to do this, with more steps and probably better results. But this is something that has been going on in my household with very few steps and tools.
Essentially, even when the oven is off, it’s still on a very little bit, and the inside of the oven is a teensy bit warm. We found these drying racks, at least that’s what we use them for (pictured top left) and Tyler’s been drying out his mushrooms overnight in the oven. So we decided to peel and slice some of my apples that I still have and they sat in the oven for over a day, maybe 2, I can’t remember. After about 12 hours, you could bite into them and the inside was still moist, but eventually they dried out to a kinda chewy texture, but still palatable and a great snack. Not you’re dried apples that you get in the penny candy/snack isle, but not too bad, if I do say so myself.
